10th Annual Gator Give Day Breaks Records, Brings Campus Together and Unites Alumni Far and Wide
The Tenth Annual Gator Give Day brought the Allegheny community together both near and far, online, in person, and with much joy. And it was record-breaking, with funds raised surpassing any previous year.
On April 18, more than 2,890 alumni, parents, employees, students, and friends from around the world made gifts to Allegheny, totaling over $2.8 million. The record total was reached in part thanks to a $750,000 Trustee Leadership Challenge, which matched new leadership level donations of $1,815 or more dollar-for-dollar.
“It’s always an inspiration to see the community of students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends come together as one; it’s something Allegheny is supremely good at. I’m still filled with joy at how generous our Gator family is,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Matthew Stinson.
During the day, students celebrated in the Henderson Campus Center lobby with sweet and savory treats, T-shirts, giveaways, and giving opportunities. Over 180 students easily broke the goal of 150 student gifts to unlock a bonus ice cream social, which will be sponsored by Board of Trustee member and Allegheny parent Mary Amsdell and her husband Todd. By the end of the day, Oreo Cookie ice cream was by far the favorite selection for the party.
The Gator Give Day landscape was filled with competitions between class years, reunion classes, athletics teams, and additional mini-matches contributing to the total. “Commercial Break” videos were unlocked and shared as goals were reached throughout the day, including a peek behind the scenes of the creative crew, sisters “lending each other a hand,” faculty members learning the latest slang, special coverage of the “All-Decade Team” (donors who have given every Gator Give Day), a beautiful choral rendition of Alma Mater, Beatissima, and of course a message from President Cole and Chompers.
To gear up for the much-anticipated annual event, alumni from multiple cities gathered together for a series of Pop-Up Gatherings in the days leading up. A big thank you to all of our hosts and attendees at these fun parties for their Allegheny spirit:
