Sustainability Internship

An internship with the Office of Sustainability is an opportunity to take classroom learning into the real world to address a sustainability challenge on campus. This on-campus internship is an upper-level, 4-credit course in the Environmental Science & Sustainability Department (ENVSC*530-00: Intern: Campus Sustainability), but students of all majors are welcome and encouraged to bring their unique perspectives, interests, and knowledge to the work.

Students are mentored through the process of researching and developing an implementation plan to advance campus sustainability or partner with community organizations and entrepreneurs, learning skills that are both career readiness markers and sustainability competencies.

Past interns have proposed a graduation gown reuse program, written an Integrated Pest Management plan for campus, studied the carbon footprint of dining purchases, created illustrations of Carrden crops, developed a proposal for lighting retrofits, and much more.
