“There’s something unique about the liberal arts experience in this school. You are as big as anyone on the planet Earth because of what you generate with these young students. It is amazing to me.”

—Tom Ridge

President Mullen, the faculty, and staff of Allegheny College cordially invite you to attend a weekend steeped in tradition – Commencement 2015 in the 200th year of the College. In addition to the Baccalaureate ceremony on Friday and the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, many events will be planned for graduates and their families.

The Commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the new Bicentennial Plaza on Bentley lawn or in the Wise Center Sports Forum, depending on weather conditions. Tickets are required for admission to the ceremony only if it is held in the Wise Center. Commencement tickets will be given directly to your graduating son or daughter. Closed circuit television viewing in the Shafer Auditorium is available to guests with children and those not holding tickets if the ceremony is held inside. If the ceremony is held at the Bicentennial Plaza on Bentley Lawn, a closed circuit broadcast will be available in Schultz Banquet Hall for those who prefer to sit inside.

This year’s Commencement speaker will be Honorary Degree recipient Mark Shields, a PBS political analyst and author. Additional Honorary Degree recipients are Dan and Patricia Rooney, owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Herb Niles, Allegheny College Trustee.

No information packets will be mailed. All Commencement information can be found online.

All parking lots will be in use for Commencement; please see the link to the map of Commencement parking on the right of this page for parking directions.
