Update: Commencement Is Indoors

Today’s Commencement ceremony will be indoors in the Wise Center Sports Forum with closed circuit viewing and seating for guests with children and/or those not holding tickets in Shafer Auditorium.

President Mullen, the faculty, and staff of Allegheny College cordially invite you to attend a weekend steeped in tradition – Commencement 2016 in the 201st year of the College. In addition to the Baccalaureate ceremony on Friday and the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, many events will be planned for graduates and their families.

Commencement ceremony details for inclement weather:

  • May 14, 2016 at 2 PM
  • Wise Center Sports Forum
  • Tickets: Required – Tickets issued directly to graduating student
  • Closed Circuit Viewing: Shafer Auditorium – For guests with children and/or those not holding tickets

All parking lots will be in use for Commencement. Please see the Commencement parking map (PDF) for parking directions.

Information Packets
No information packets will be mailed. All Commencement information can be found online.

Weather / Location
The decision on the location of the Commencement ceremony will be announced online (this site,, My Allegheny) and in social media (, , ) on the morning of Commencement.

All students walking in Commencement need to pick up their Commencement tickets from the Office of Conference and Event Services (Schultz Hall – Room 191) between 9 AM and 4 PM, Monday, May 9 through Thursday, May 12.


Michael Beschloss — presidential historian for NBC News, commentator for PBS NewsHour and nationally renowned author — will deliver the Commencement address at Allegheny College in the college‚Äôs 201st year.
