Printing On Campus

Allegheny College uses a PaperCut print server to provide printing for the College.  The community has access to color, duplex, and advanced finishing options from college owned computers and personal computers.

Printing Using College Computers

College computers are configured to print to at least one Multi-function Devices (MFDs) that provide copying, printing, scanning, and faxing.  Larger buildings have access to additional MFDs and desktop printers.

Employee Printing

Employee computers are configured with

  • print queues that provide direct printing to the Toshiba MFD(s) in the building.
  • a release print queue that will hold a print job on the PaperCut print server until it is release by the employee at the Toshiba MFD.

Public Labs

Computers in public labs are configured to print directly to the printers in the labs.  One does not need to release print jobs when printing from a lab computer.

Public Computers in Pelletier

Public computers in Pelletier are configured to print to to Pelletier Public Printers print queue, which holds the print job on the PaperCut Print server until it is released by the individual at one of the four public MFD’s in the building.

Print jobs are held for up to twenty four hours and then are automatically deleted and the cost of the job are credited to the user’s account.

Printing Using Personal Computers

Download the PaperCut client to your personal computer to print to the public printers in

  • Pelletier Library
  • Campus Center
  • Bio/Steffee Computer Lab

The PaperCut client is available for Mac and Windows computers.

When printing to a public printer your print job will be held by PaperCut for 24 hours.  If the print job is not released within 24 hours the print job will be deleted.  When a print job is deleted from the server PaperCut automatically refunds student print points.

Print Points

Students receive 3200 Print Points each semester to use for printing and copying the necessary academic and co-curricular materials.  Unused points can roll over to the following semester.  Find out more about print points and ideas on how to conserve them to meet your printing needs over the semester.
