Bentley Hall Through History
From its beginning, Allegheny College has sought new ways to transform society through educating students in the liberal arts. Bentley Hall, a hallmark of the College, has played a key role in our teaching and traditions throughout our history.
About the Project
Allegheny’s first formal classes were taught in Bentley Hall nearly 200 years ago, and with historically sensitive and sustainable renovation, graduating seniors can continue to march through Bentley for two more centuries. We will restore Bentley Hall to its rightful place as one of America’s foremost examples of Federalist architecture, and at the same time equip the building for modern, technology-based teaching, learning, and administration.
Project Timeline
The historic renovation of Bentley Hall will take place over a two-year period from 2018 to 2020, when its revered front doors will once again re-open marking the final milestone in adaptive reuse of this architecturally distinctive building.
