Come one, come all to the 8th Annual Summer Job Fair on Monday, February 5 from 11:30 am-1: 30 pm in the Campus Center Lobby! Students of all class years and majors are invited to attend this free on-campus career fair to meet with the over 25 employers offering a variety of paid summer opportunities. A sample of employers includes ChildCare Careers located in Pittsburgh, PA, Sandy Hill Camp on the Chesapeake Bay in North East, MD, and Camp Notre Dame on the shores of Lake Erie in Fairview, PA. Students interested in working with children or in the field of education are especially encouraged to attend. What: A presentation focused on economic consulting and the Summer Analyst Internship

Are you interested in economics, finance, statistics, or marketing? Would you like to apply your research skills, perform rigorous analyses, and collaborate with leading professors and industry experts on complex, high-stakes litigation? If yes, then economic consulting might be the field for you. Cornerstone Research is a leading financial and economic consulting firm specializing in the analysis of complex financial, economic, accounting, and marketing issues that arise in the context of various kinds of litigation. Summer Analysts are integral members of the project teams formed to tackle litigation issues across a range of industries and practice areas. The experience that Summer Analysts gain at Cornerstone Research provides them with a solid foundation for successful careers in Consulting, Business, and Academia. Following the presentation, there will be an open Q&A session for students to pop by and ask questions

PNC Asset Management Group (AMG) Undergraduate Intern

As a PNC Intern, you will participate in a “best-in-class” internship program. During this 10 week program, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a specific line of business, expand the tools you need to launch your career and complement your education with real-world job experience. There are two tracks to the Asset Management Group Development Program, Wealth Management/Hawthorn track, and Institutional Asset Management track. You will work with individual and corporate clients who have significant assets to develop sophisticated, customized financial solutions ranging from investment management and wealth planning to trust administration and private foundation management. We are looking for students who possess the following skillsets: strong desire to interact directly with clients, strong written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented, self-motivated, eager to learn, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. We prefer students studying Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Math, Statistics, HR, Communications, Psychology, or Computer Science. Must be a current Sophomore or junior.

 Cornerstone Research Summer Analyst

Summer analysts work in case teams that range in size but typically include a faculty expert, senior consultants, and analysts. Within a case team, the summer analyst makes important contributions during all phases of a project—from developing case strategy to conducting analy­ses, to preparing experts for testimony. Casework has both quantitative and qualitative elements, involving such key responsibilities as conducting financial and economic modeling, examining market and industry behavior, and presenting findings to colleagues and clients. This internship is available to current juniors and is not limited to specific majors, but applicants need a strong quantitative background (demonstrated either through coursework or previous work experience).

Applications are due by 4 pm on February 9.

 Lean Six Sigma Demonstration

Attend this an interactive hands-on demonstration on February 6 at 12:15 pm in Quigley Auditorium to learn more about how Lean Six Sigma is used in different workplace settings to achieve performance goals! Lean Six Sigma applies the scientific method to diagnose and solve problems in a wide variety of professional settings. Students with Lean Six Sigma training on their resume have a clear advantage when applying for a job or internship. Jennifer Rothfuss ’08 will be leading the demonstration. Want to learn more? Hefren-Tillotson is Recruiting Summer 2018 Interns

Are you interested in a paid internship at an alumni connected company in Butler, Wexford, Pittsburgh, Southpointe, or Greensburg? Do you want to customize your internship to your interests? Do you want to learn how to use mail merge and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and how to work in a corporate environment? Diplomat in Residence Presents Careers in Foreign Service on 11/10

What does it mean to work as a Foreign Service Officer (FSO)? How does one become a diplomat? Join Foreign Service Officer Dale Giovengo, parent of an Allegheny College graduate, Class of 2000, for a lunchtime talk on Careers in Foreign Service sponsored by International Studies and The Gateway/Career Education. Learn how you can prepare for an exciting career that will take you around the world. Join us in Quigley Auditorium, 12:15 pm on Friday, November 10. Lunch will be provided.

As a Foreign Service Specialist, Dale Giovengo has held or managed numerous positions responsible for Embassy operations in France, Albania, Kuwait, Pakistan, Switzerland and Iraq. Dale most recently managed the Medical Services Support Iraq Program before joining the Diplomat in Residence team in 2017.

Students are also invited to open office hours with Dale from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in room 253 in The Gateway. Students interested in meeting with Dale Giovengo must sign up in the Career Education Office on Friday, November 10; 20-minute meetings are available beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Alumnus Richard Taaffe from West Hawaii Community Health Center (WHCHC) Campus Visit

Alumnus Richard Taaffe ’72, President/CEO of the West Hawaii Community Health Center, is visiting campus to recruit juniors for Community Health Internships with WHCHC on the Big Island of Hawaii during summer 2018. Students will contribute to the operations of WHCHC while pursuing their interests as they relate to community building, organizational management, population health, integrated health and disease management, health care delivery systems, finance, public health for diverse populations. These are paid positions and housing will be provided. Students can apply for funding to help with flight costs. Apply by Monday, October 30 for an on-campus interview on Monday, November 6. Applicants must also stop into Career Education to sign up for an interview time slot. See posting in Gator Connect for application details.

Richard Taaffe will also attend a lunch for all students interested in community health-related work. Students should RSVP as space is limited to the first 30 responses. Business casual dress is required.

City Year Recruiter On Campus

City Year, a non-profit program sponsored by AmeriCorps, will be recruiting on campus Tuesday, October 17 from 11:30 am- 1:30 pm in the Campus Center Lobby. City Year is a compensated service program geared toward the betterment of children’s experience in high-need and inner-city schools throughout the United States. All City Year employees are between 18 and 24 years old and come from a variety of backgrounds. Students of all class years and majors are encouraged to learn more about this awesome program!

Brian Holland ’16 from Lancaster Pollard is Recruiting

Lancaster Pollard helps health care, senior living, and housing organizations expand and improve their services by providing financial advice and financing solutions. They are recruiting junior undergraduate students for the paid Summer Analyst Program. The program will last approximately 10-12 weeks and will provide exposure to all of Lancaster Pollard’s business lines. The internship is located at Lancaster Pollard’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. All majors are welcome to attend to learn more!  

The Woodlands Foundation Summer 2018 Internship Information Session

Learn about paid summer 2018 internships at The Woodlands Foundation. As a member of The Woodlands staff, you will enjoy new and challenging experiences and make a positive difference in the lives of the participants. If you have a genuine interest in enriching the lives of children and adults with disability and chronic illness, then The Woodlands is the place for you! Positions are open to students of all class years! Housing, internet access, and laundry are all provided during the summer camp season and students are paid a stipend! They are seeking candidates interested in art, music, therapy, education, healthcare, or psychology.

Attend the on-campus session from 12-1pm on Monday, October 16 in room 303 in the Campus Center to meet Patrick Joyal, Talent Acquisition Coordinator.

Apply for Internships and Jobs at SciMath Tech Interview Day

Does your unusual combination include a STEM discipline? Then consider attending SciMath Tech Interview Day on Friday, November 10. SciMath Tech is a one day Science, Math, and Technology recruiting event that gives companies an opportunity to interview regional college/university students for internships and full-time employment. Review the student information to see the companies that participate, such as Duquesne Light and Bayer, and position descriptions. The application process includes three steps, all of which must be completed by Wednesday, October 25, by noon. For more information, stop into Career Education during Quick Questions from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Bloomberg Paid Summer 2018 Internship Applications Open

Bloomberg has paid summer 2018 internships available! Their internships fall into seven programs: Corporate Functions, Financial Products, Industry Verticals, Global Data, News Research, and Technology. Internships begin typically in May or June and last for 10-12 weeks. Applications will only be available for a short time so apply now! Funding is available through the Gateway to help support students who receive these internships. Students interested in applying should contact Career Education at (814) 332-2381 to have their materials reviewed before they submit.

WestPACS Job & Internship Fair

WestPACS Job & Internship Fair, the largest in the region, will take place Wednesday, October 11th, and students and alumni can register for free. Over 100 employers attend this fair, recruiting for positions in and around the Pittsburgh region. Transportation to the Pittsburgh area will be provided for $10 by Career Education, and students must reserve their spot by signing up in the Career Education office by 5pm on Thursday, October 5th.

A pre-departure session will take place on Thursday, October 5th from 4:30-5:30 pm in the Gateway room 245. All students registered for the fiar should plan to attend to learn how to prepare.
