Biographical Information

Thomas Conners is an Assistant Professor of Latinx Studies and World Languages & Cultures at Allegheny College and an Allegheny Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Faculty Fellow. His research and teaching interests include US Latinx, Caribbean, and Latin American literatures, as well as critical race, queer, and legal studies. Prior to Allegheny, he taught in the History & Literature and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies programs at Harvard University. At Harvard, Professor Conners was awarded the Jan Thaddeus Teaching Prize and voted one of Harvard College’s Class of ’23 Favorite Professors.

Tommy’s interdisciplinary work has been published or is forthcoming in a wide range of venues, such as Multi-Ethnic Literature of the US Journal,Diálogo: an Interdisciplinary Studies Journal, Latinx Literature and Critical Futurities: 1992-2020, and ReVista: Harvard Review of Latin America. His work has been generously supported by the Sue-Je Lee Gage Residency for Human Rights & Social Justice and the Harvard University Open Gate Foundation, among others. His first monograph, Colorblind Aesthetics in Latinx Literature and Law, explores Latinx literature in relation to legal decisions that suggest racism is passé and “love is love.”
