Student Funding Resources

Funding is available for students requiring financial assistance to conduct research (individually or in collaboration with Religious Studies faculty) and for student travel to attend and to present at academic conferences that engage with religious studies. These funds may provide full or partial funding up to $1000 per student for research or conference travel, and these resources may be supplemented through other funding sources at Allegheny. The funds also support the purchase of research materials to be used by students in pursuit of the Senior Project whose research engages with a Religious Studies focus. In most cases, funding up to $500 is available.

The James F. Sheridan, Jr. Memorial Fund was established in memory of Jim Sheridan – Allegheny College Professor of Philosophy and alumnus (Class of 1950) – by his friends, family, and beloved wife Nancy.

An application for Sheridan funding should include an overview of the research project, an explanation of the research to be undertaken, and a budget. Contact the Program Chair of Religious Studies for additional information.

Financial support may also be available through Gator Success Grants.
