Move-in is August 18 & 19 — Important Information and Action Items

Dear Allegheny Students and Families,

We hope you’re having fun and a safe start to your summer! As you are making your plans to move in for the fall semester, we have lots of details enclosed to assist you.

MOVE-IN for fall is August 18th and 19th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

We are planning to do testing and move-in through scheduled appointments to manage crowds and provide you a seamless move-in experience. You will need to make an appointment to get your test and keys upon arrival.

Students may sign up for an appointment to meet their individual travel needs. Only students who are members of approved early arrival cohorts (specific fall sports, RAs, etc.) may sign up for the slots on the 10th and 13th; if you are not eligible for these dates, you will be removed.

  • International students — work with International Education and refer to the shuttle information
  • Student-athletes — work with your coach
  • Students participating in cohort programs — check in with your advisors

COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing

  • Students must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption through the Allegheny College Health Agency in order to move into campus housingStudents can report their vaccination status here and review the exemption policies here. The deadline for students to submit a request for a medical or religious exemption is July 2, 2021.
  • Students who have not been vaccinated will need to quarantine in their residence hall rooms until the results of their test are returned. Students who have been vaccinated will not need to quarantine.
  • Prior to arrival, students may be expected to do an at-home test. As the guidance from the CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health changes, the Allegheny College Health Agency will continue to advise the College regarding COVID-19 mitigation and testing. More information will be sent to students later in the summer with updated guidance about at-home testing.

Preparing for Move-in

  • Students must be registered for at least one course in order to move into the residence hall.
  • At this time, masking will still be required during the move-in process. Students and families should expect to maintain the traditional 6 feet of physical distance, and two persons per student may assist with move-in.
  • There will be shuttles available from the Pittsburgh Airport.
  • Please plan to pick up your belongings from your storage facility (if applicable) before you come to campus.
  • Loft KitsPlease complete this form to reserve lofting and bunking supplies.  Supplies are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis based on submission date. Residence Life will contact you about the status of your request and information about where and when to pick up your supplies.
