Utility/Power Failure on Campus

There is a utility failure at Allegheny College. Meadville Water Authority is reporting that there has been a main water line break on the north side of campus that will affect the whole north side of the city. The Water Authority was unable to tell us exactly which buildings will be affected on campus but did inform us that it will likely take the majority of the day to complete the repair. Physical plant will be preemptively shutting down some of our infrastructure to prevent any damage including ice machines and hot water systems. At this time Mckinley’s Food court still has water and will be in operation. We are working on preemptive actions to keep dining in operation throughout the day to serve campus even in the event that we do lose water.

Schultz Hall is on a different, low pressure waterline and should not be affected by the water line break. The East Alcove doors are open and the restrooms are available for use.

Supervisors have the flexibility to authorize employees to work from home as their jobs may allow and as is appropriate.

We are sorry for this inconvenience and The College will be working closely with the water authority to return service as soon as possible.

Students, faculty and staff should monitor e-mail, the college web site, social and local media for updated information and further updates.
