There is a utility/power failure at Allegheny College and some of the surrounding neighborhood. Penelec has been notified and is working to address the problem.
Remain calm. There is no need for evacuation. Students are reminded that candles (flames) are not permitted. Follow instructions from College officials or local authorities.
Public Safety is monitoring building access.
Students, faculty and staff should monitor e-mail, the college web site, social and local media for updated information and further updates.

ATTENTION! The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for our area until 6:00 pm.
Seek shelter in a basement or an interior room away from windows. If you cannot get inside, crouch for protection beside a strong structure or lie in a low-lying area. Cover your head and neck with your arms or a piece of clothing.

The tornado warning has expired. Resume normal operations/activities.

At 1:47pm, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Grand Valley, or 23 miles north of Oil City, moving northeast at 50 mph. This is northeast of campus.
SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

Spartansburg.
