Course Description
A study of the interdisciplinary approaches to health (broadly defined) and conflict resolution in Ireland. Interdisciplinary approaches to health will be framed within health psychology and global health studies to understand motivation for both individual behavior change and cultural resilience in the face of health challenges (e.g., climate change, loneliness, disease). Research on conflict resolution will accompany lessons on current challenges and historic complexities related to Ireland’s relationship with Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Irish language, music, dance, art, and literature will be included in this exploration of resilience and resistance.
Academics
Students who successfully complete this course will earn four Allegheny credits. Students are required to attend pre-departure sessions as assigned.

Please note: Graduating seniors who participate in the program are not eligible to receive institutional financial aid.
The Reverend and Mrs. Berges International Fund supports international students here on campus, semester long study away students, and GL Seminar participants. Students must 1) have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Financial aid office and 2) Have never studied away previously.
Students are encouraged to apply for externally funded scholarships. Those who receive the federal Pell Grant are eligible for the Gilman Scholarship.
