BRITA DOYLE Assistant Dean for Global Education bdoyle@allegheny.edu
Brita manages the Global Education Office at Allegheny College. After nearly 20 years at American University’s AU Abroad office in Washington, DC, she returned to her roots in northwest PA to begin her position at Allegheny in March 2022. Brita holds an MA in International Education and a BA in Spanish Language & Latin American Studies, both from American University. Her own study abroad experiences began with a year in Säkylä, Finland as a Rotary youth foreign exchange student during her junior year of high school. She also spent two semesters abroad during college in Santiago, Chile and Madrid, Spain. In her role at Allegheny, Brita leads the outgoing study away team in the Global Education office. She’s responsible for new program development and connecting with partners across campus to provide accessible study abroad opportunities to students in all of Allegheny’s degree programs.
In addition to being a member of several national study abroad scholarship review committees, Brita’s experience in the field of international education also includes numerous presentations at NAFSA: Association of International Educators national and regional conferences. She served as a steering committee member for the Fund for Education Abroad’s DC Area Scholarship, co-trainer for a NAFSA workshop entitled: “Fundamentals of Education Abroad Advising” and led the NAFSA Rainbow Special Interest Group first as Co-Chair and now as a Board Member. Her research interests include best practices in study away risk management and providing access and advising support to study abroad for all students.

Angel, originally from Indonesia, came to the United States as an international student to pursue her education. She graduated from Allegheny College in 2021 with a BA in International Studies. During her time in college, she studied away in Hong Kong and completed an internship while there. In her current role at Allegheny, she advises students on study away programs and manages the pre-departure orientation for study away students.

Kenzie, from Pittsburgh, PA, works as a student assistant in the Global Education office. Her study abroad experience began in high school as a sophomore with the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange to Germany in 2019-2020. In 2022, she started at Allegheny College to pursue a major in International Studies with minors in German and Political Science. Kenzie completed two semesters abroad at the University of Cologne in Germany during the 2023-2024 academic year.
