Gator Hub is Allegheny’s new app for employees and students — it’s a 24/7/365 hub for anything and everything Allegheny. From groups to daily notifications to connections to all of the College’s tools such as Canvas and Self-Service, Gator Hub should be your first stop each morning.

How do I submit my item?

screenshot of a button called "Add Announcement"If you were planning to submit items to be posted on My Allegheny, now you’ll submit an “Announcement” via Gator Hub. Log in, select “Announcements” from the menu, and click on the navy “+ Add Announcement” button. Announcements allow for links and images, too! Set the announcement for the day you want it posted. MarCom will review submissions as they come in.

  1. Title: Provide a short title for your post (will be edited for length if needed)
  2. Message: Include the necessary information; avoid including too much background or context. Notifications need to be read quickly. This is what you normally would have submitted to MyAllegheny.
  3. Send to: Roles. Click “Select audience…” and include one or more of the following:
    • Everyone (most common; if this is chosen there is no need for other audiences)
    • Faculty [AUTO]
    • Administrator [AUTO]
    • Staff [AUTO]
    • Student [AUTO]
  4. Delivery channels — leave as is
  5. Options (see icons):
    • Add image (optional)
    • Add attachment (optional)
    • Schedule your announcement for 6:00am the day you would like it posted
    • Set the expiration date for a day after the announcement is relevant (if your event is on 11/21, have it expire 11/22. If you have a deadline two weeks away, set it to expire after that deadline is over.
  6. Once your announcement is submitted, it will be reviewed and approved for posting.

Project Timeline

  • August 28 — Beta testing begins with students and employees
  • November 11 — Gator Hub available to all employees and students; all notifications in MyAllegheny email are duplicated on Gator Hub
  • January 3, 2025 — MyAllegheny website redirects to temporary details webpage; notifications sent only via Gator Hub (not MyAllegheny emails)

FAQ

  1. Why did Allegheny make this change? Many schools use an app like Gator Hub to maintain an intranet that benefits everyone in the campus community. By drawing resources together, communication is streamlined and information is easier than ever to find.
  2. As a student/employee, do I need to do anything such as register? Your email is registered with Gator Hub, but you first need to log in by visiting  gatorhub.allegheny.edu. You can use your Allegheny credentials to log in.
  3. Does the site work on my mobile device? Yes! Gator Hub is both a desktop and a mobile app. You can access all of the tools, notifications, and conversations through your phone.
  4. Does my Google SSO login work with the Gator Hub? Yes! You don’t need a new username and password, simply use your Allegheny email and password to get in.
  5. Does the Gator Hub replace the Google Workspace or MyAllegheny? Gator Hub does not replace the College’s Google products, but it does provide one place to access Drive and all of the other Allegheny technologies and tools. It also replaces in part our current My Allegheny.
  6. Will I still get a MyAllegheny email each day? All notifications will be sent via Gator Hub once it is live. You will receive notifications on your Gator Hub app just as you would with other apps. In addition, you’ll be able to post and receive comments from your student groups, Class Deans, and more. It will be the place to communicate!
  7. Why is it called Gator Hub? Gator Hub was by far the most popular choice in the polling that we ran during late summer. You voted, we listened.
