About Meadville
The county seat of Crawford County, Meadville offers easy access by interstate highway, outdoor recreation areas, and regional attractions. Crawford County is home to more than 11 golf courses and the region is ideal for cross-country skiing, hiking, canoeing, boating, swimming, and fishing — in fact, there are eight freshwater lakes within a 40-minute drive of campus. The Meadville Recreational Complex also contains an indoor ice rink. The campus provides weekly bus trips to the ice rink and to Peek-‘N-Peek, a nearby downhill ski resort.
Meadville also offers plenty of “local flavor” with more than 30 restaurants from fast food to fine dining. Some favorite eateries include Hank’s Frozen Custard and Eddie’s Footlong Hot Dogs as well as the charmingly historic Meadville Market House.
While Allegheny’s campus offers its own Movie Night in Shafer Auditorium each week, Meadville also features a four-screen bargain movie theatre downtown and The Movies at Meadville, a state-of-the-art 10-screen movie theatre. Those interested in the arts are also pleased by the shows presented at the historic Academy Theatre in downtown Meadville.
Those who love to shop will find that Meadville is within short drives of Erie’s Millcreek Mall (just 35 minutes away) and the Grove City’s Premium Outlets (45 minutes away).
