For the past several years, the History Department has hosted the competition of National History Day, Pennsylvania Region 1 Program in the Campus Center, Allegheny College. History majors, along with history department faculty, serve as judges. Students from Conneaut Lake Middle School, Conneaut Valley Middle School, North East Middle School, Cambridge Springs Junior/Senior High, North East High School, Rice Avenue Middle School, and Girard High School win prizes in the contests of group performance, group/individual documentary, individual website, individual/group exhibits, and research paper. Allegheny’s President or Provost concludes this annual event by addressing the participants and their families during an afternoon awards ceremony.
