Stalingrad: The Pivotal Battleground of World War II

Abstract:

Throughout August 23rd, 1942 to February 2nd, 1943 was the most controversial battle in World War II for the German Army. This would lead to an intense battle in a city that would determine the outcome of the Eastern campaign, which would push the Soviet forces and Joseph Stalin to launch a huge counter offensive and march towards Berlin. Adolf Hitler would push for the capture to open the route for oil in the Caucasus and stop the flow of military troops and production on the river of the Volga. This project will show how the Battle of Stalingrad was an important battle in World War II for the German Army and Adolf Hitler. This being how it was turned into an ideological war, economic war, and a symbolic war for the German people.
