Print Server Maintenance

On Tuesday, April 9th at 5:00pm the PaperCut print server will undergo maintenance lasting roughly 1 hour. During this time all printing will be disabled.

If you encounter printing issues after April 9th, please open a Web Help Desk ticket.

Network Maintenance 2/18/24

In partnership with our network support vendors, ITS will perform planned network maintenance on Sunday the 18th between 6am and 8am, resulting in several brief network outages across campus.

New Password Change Form Website

ITS would like to alert the community to an upcoming change to our Password Change Form. External factors have necessitated a change in the tool that we use, which results in a different looking web page, as seen below. The web address will continue to be https://accounts.allegheny.edu, but beginning on January 8th, 2024, the website will be updated and appear as below:

Network Outage Sunday 11/19

On Sunday, November 19th at 6AM, ITS will perform firewall maintenance that will result in a campus wide internet outage lasting approximately 1 hour. Please note that this outage will also affect the VOIP phone system and off campus access to services hosted on campus, such as Self Service.

Please be reminded that ITS utilizes Sunday mornings from 6AM to 10AM as our standing maintenance window.

ITS Ticketing System Maintenance

On Monday, November 6th ITS will perform maintenance on the WebHelpDesk ticketing system, resulting in an expected downtime of up to 3 hours. During this time, tickets can not be submitted or accessed. This work is scheduled to begin at 9am and complete by 12pm.

On Wednesday, October 25th ITS will perform maintenance on the WebHelpDesk ticketing system, resulting in an expected downtime of up to 4 hours. During this time, tickets can not be submitted or accessed. This work is scheduled to begin at 8am and complete by 12pm.

Campus Phone System – Scheduled Maintenance

At 6:00 am on Sunday, September 3rd, Windstream will reboot the campus phone server which is expected to take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Although no outage is expected, it is possible that the phone system will be unavailable during this time.

In case of emergency, Public Safety can be reached during the phone outage at 814-332-2314 instead of their usual number. Please note that you must use a non-Allegheny College phone, such as a cell phone, to reach this number during any outage. Campus phones will not be able to complete any outgoing calls during the outage.

Windows 10 – Major version update

Beginning Monday, March 6th, ITS will roll out the 22H2 update for Windows 10. This update will apply between the hours of 6pm and 7am. Any active users during this timeframe may see a prompt to restart.

As always, please make sure to save your work and log out at the end of each day to avoid potential data loss, since Windows updates often necessitate a restart.

Antivirus Software Migration

As ITS finalizes the migration to a new Antivirus product, users may see the previous product (Trend Micro Apex One) display with a red icon in the taskbar (seen below). In this instance, the red icon indicates that the product has been uninstalled and will need a restart to complete the process. Users may do this at their convenience during the day, otherwise the process should complete overnight. If the icon persists, please call the Help Desk at 814-332-2755, or submit a ticket at WebHelpDesk.
