Tyler Triolo ’16

This past Spring Allegheny afforded me the opportunity to create an exciting internship whereby I was able to blend my studies and my areas of interest in History, Spanish and Education. For a six-week period, I was a teaching assistant at a suburban Philadelphia public school district working closely with both high school history and middle school social studies classes, as well as English as a Second Language students who predominantly were Spanish speaking. In history and social studies classes I developed and implemented lessons on specific periods in history, as well as introduced highlights of Latin American History from my studies at Allegheny. Additionally, I was able to use and continually develop my Spanish skills on a daily basis with my ESL students who were native Spanish speakers. This internship proved to be a perfect fit for me as a double major in History and Spanish and an Education Studies minor, and helped me solidify a way to combine all my interests into a career that I feel passionate about and truly enjoy.
