Final Days to Apply for 2016 Alternative Spring Break Trips: Deadline is 2/13

Don’t take a week off! Take a week on! Looking to be engaged in a service immersion experience during spring break and learning about local and national communities? This year’s trips include:

1) United Way: Williamson County, TN
– Work with subsidized housing complexes to ensure residents have access to sustainable, renewable and healthy food.
– As a team, you’ll work with UT Extension Services and local farmers on the overall garden plans, build raised beds, till the soil.

2) Habitat for Humanity: York, PA
– Provide homeownership opportunities to people living in standard housing within their community.
– The Habitat is as much about uplifting people and revitalizing community as it is about homebuilding.

3) Lake Effect Leaders Program: Erie and Crawford County, PA
– Working on housing rehabilitation and homelessness prevention projects with the Community Improvement Center through the United Way.
– Learning about the hidden treasures that are surrounding Allegheny’s campus and Erie, PA.

4) Cumberland Trail: Cumberland TN
– An ambitious 300 mile hiking trail project under development in East Tennessee. A scenic footpath follows a line of high ridges and deep gorges.
– Students partake in trail building/maintenance.
– Educational opportunities about the environment, history, geology, flora and fauna along the Cumberland Plateau.
