2016 Fall Semester Fitness Classes

Allegheny students, faculty, staff, and Wise Center members are welcome to participate in the 2016 Fall Semester fitness classes. The classes, schedule, and class descriptions follow:

Beginner Conditioning Class (Wise Dance Studio)
Beginner Conditioning Classes consist of full-body, medicine ball and body weight regimens. This a two-day-a-week program, with one day being a challenge day (Sunday). Classes are taught by Wise Center student fitness instructors.
Monday: 4 – 5 p.m., 5 – 6 p.m., 6 – 7 p.m.
Thursday: 4 – 5 p.m., 5 – 6 p.m., 6 – 7 p.m.
Sunday (Challenge Day): 1 – 2 p.m.

Spin Class w/ Allison Chen (Wise Spin Room – Blue Courts)
Come join this class with student spin instructor Allison Chen. A high-energy class with great music and a motivated Instructor riding a varied mixture of flats, hills and sprints while burning calories all the way. This class will have you spending up to an hour on the bike for an amazing cardio workout, as well as a mixture of pumping dumbbells to build upper body and core strength.
Monday: 4 – 5 p.m., 5 – 6 p.m.
Wednesday: 4 – 5 p.m., 5 – 6 p.m.
Thursday: 4 – 5 p.m., 5 – 6 p.m.
Sunday: 2 – 3 p.m.

Yoga w/ Kayla Smith (Wise Dance Studio)
Yoga, led by student fitness instructor Kayla Smith, is a great way of harmonizing a system of development for the body, mind, and spirit. Come lead yourself to a sense of peace and well-being, make the body strong and flexible, and improve the functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and hormonal systems. Yoga brings about emotional stability and clarity of mind.
Tuesday: 5 – 6 p.m.
Wednesday: 4 – 5 p.m.
Sunday: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Sports Yoga w/ Felicity Say (Wise Dance Studio)
Sports Yoga, with student fitness instructor Felicity Say, is designed for those who compete in events such as marathons, swimming, running, sports events, etc. Come help yourself reduce the risk of injury in your competition by increasing flexibility and increasing poise and balance from the practice of the yoga holding/balancing poses. This type of balancing will enhance athletic/competitive performance by enabling you to prevent falls because of this heightened awareness of your body’s center place.
Tuesday: 5 – 6 p.m.
Friday: 6 – 7 p.m.
Saturday: Noon – 1 p.m.
Sunday: Noon – 1 p.m.

Fitness classes will begin on September 5 and conclude December 18.
