The first Teaching Tidbits brown bag meeting of the spring 2017 semester is Tuesday, February 28, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in McKinley’s Private Dining. We will discuss the first chapter of the book “The Invisible Gorilla” by Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons. The book explores “six everyday illusions that profoundly influence our lives: the illusions of attention, memory, confidence, knowledge, cause, and potential.” This book provides an approachable, interesting, general introduction to some cognitive psychology areas of research that could inform the way we think about how we teach and how students learn. Any interested faculty or staff are welcome to join us; there is no obligation to come to all meetings. Our second meeting will be on March 7, same time and location, and will focus on chapter two.
