It can be challenging for students and parents to navigate the financial management process of college. We are here to assist where we can.

Due to federal regulations, our office sends all email notifications, online statements, and credit refunds to the student and in the student’s name. However, you can receive access to your student’s billing account if your student grants you access as a proxy in Self Service and as an authorized party in the Nelnet Campus Commerce portal for payment plans and one time online payments.

Parent Recommendations

      • Ask your student to set you up as a proxy on their Self-Service account so you can view statements, account details, and tax documents.
      • Ask your student to grant you access as an authorized party by selecting the “Manage Payers” button on the Nelnet Campus Commerce site if you plan to pay the student’s bill. (Students access the Nelnet Campus Commerce site through their link in Self Service.)
        • All with shared access will create a personal login and may receive email notifications when there is a balance on the student account. Your access and login will remain active while your student is attending Allegheny.
        • Once your authorized party account is set up, log in.
        • Visit NelNet Campus Commerce.
      • Ask your student to forward emails that we send them.
      • Encourage your student to contact us or visit our office if they have questions or concerns.
      • Consider purchasing Tuition Insurance through the Grad Guard link in Nelnet Campus Commerce
      • Verify that your student has health insurance that provides coverage in the Meadville area. Your student will be charged for health insurance until they decline coverage in their Self Service. This is not Allegheny insurance, rather it is provided by United Healthcare Insurance. We pay the premium for the student and bill the student’s tuition account.
        • Ask your student to decline or accept the insurance through the Student Insurance Agreement on Self Service. This must be done before August 31.
        • Health Insurance Information.
        • Remind your student to bring their current health insurance card to campus.
