Allegheny’s Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) division blends traditional computing and library services into a single structure to better provide service to the Allegheny community. For example, Pelletier’s InfoDesk provides traditional IT help desk and Library circulation services over more extended hours and in a more convenient location than was possible without significant new resource investments when these functions were separate. Likewise, the Research and Instructional Services group provides research and instructional technology assistance to students and faculty through a single touch point to make accessing appropriate assistance more convenient and straightforward for the Allegheny community. Looking forward, we expect to discover more opportunities to provide better service through an integrated approach as the way the College and the larger community locates, collects, shares, and uses information and technology continues to evolve.
