Tech Tip Tuesday – NCAM and Phishing

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Each Tech Tip for the month of October will be focused on a topic to raise awareness about the significance of cybersecurity.

For our first October Tech Tip, we would like to bring more attention to phishing.

“Phishing occurs when someone attempts to use online communication fraudulently, such as email or private messages, to acquire confidential information such as your password by pretending to be a trusted person or part of a trusted group.”

Check out our LITS web page that goes into more detail, including how to identify a phishing attempt, and what you should do if you suspect a message is phishing.

Also, in case you missed it, a Tech Tip was posted in March linking to a phishing quiz. Can you spot when you’re being phished?

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more tips all focused on cybersecurity related topics!
