Wind Symphonies & Ensembles
The Allegheny College Wind Symphony (Music 112) is a symphonic band of approximately 100 musicians. Membership is open by audition to all Allegheny students, regardless of academic major. The Wind Symphony performs one campus concert each semester, and serves as the parent ensemble for many of the instrumental chamber ensembles (Music 120s). Rehearsals take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:20. The Wind Symphony is active both semesters, and it carries one semester hour of academic credit. The Allegheny College Wind Ensemble (Music 113) is a select ensemble chosen by audition from the Wind Symphony membership. This ensemble is active during the spring semester, and it meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30. The Wind Ensemble shares the spring concert with the Wind Symphony, and it carries one semester hour of academic credit. Questions regarding the Wind Ensemble should be directed to Professor Lowell Hepler in the Music Department.
