“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to express how much your aid has helped in my journey to getting my degree. Without this, I wouldn’t be able to pursue my dream of a bachelor’s degree. I have had some setbacks in my life that have delayed me from obtaining this, but I hope with this support, I will be able to continue my education and in the future work in my current field but at a higher level.
“For some back story on myself: I am twenty-five years old with a husband and three cats. We live in Guys Mills, Pennsylvania, which is about 15 minutes from campus and we both worked in the dining halls on campus between 2012 and 2019. My husband and I met in high school; have been together for ten years and married for three. We enjoy hiking and camping in the summer months and looking for Christmas lights in the winter. My husband is 28 and currently works in tool and die and I work in a local hospital in the medical records department. I enjoy my position and have worked there for almost five years. My secondary education began with a semester at Edinboro University in the Arts but I had an injury that prevented me from walking and getting to classes so I decided to leave and heal with high hopes of returning. This took me on a journey of lots of physical therapy with a year off where I continued to work to the best of my ability. I soon found a local technical school that I thought might fit my situation better and pursued and eventually graduated in 2016 with two associates degrees. The first degree was in Health Information Technology and the other in Administrative Office Technology. I was quickly hired on in my current position.
“In my time at Allegheny, I hope to major in Global Health Studies and am still finding a right fit for a minor. Thank you again for enabling non-traditional students like me to continue their education in hopes to achieve something bigger for themselves and their families.”
