Field trips are an essential part of our curriculum. Students develop their problem solving abilities and a keen sense of geological concepts through field experiences. Listed below are some of the field trips that are a regular part of our courses. Students also gain experiences through research and internships.
Central Pennsylvania – geological mapping and land use planning.
Sterling Hill Mine, New Jersey – mineralogy, petrology, and economic geology
Georgia – modern coastal processes
Kentucky – sedimentary environments and environmental geology
West Virginia/Virginia/Maryland – tectonics and sedimentary basins
Catskill Mountains, New York – structural geology
Northwest Pennsylvania – glacial geology, hydrogeology, stratigraphy & sedimentology coastal processes along Lake Erie, bedrock fractures
