Ta-Nehisi Coats’ book “Between the World and Me” has been selected as the Common Reading for the class of 2022. A discussion group about the book, facilitated by Professor Emeritus Bill Bywater, will meet Tuesdays, March 27 and on April 3,10 and 17 between 8 and 9 a.m., with hot drinks and pastries available beginning at 7:45. Participants will receive a free copy of the book to be read in preparation for the discussions. Please contact justin adkins (jadkins@allegheny.edu) to register and receive your book. Faculty and other employees who have regular contact with first-year students are particularly urged to attend. Allegheny Common Reading is a shared learning experience designed to introduce new students to each other and to the academic community. During Welcome Weekend, new students will come together for a faculty panel and small group discussions that encompass a shared learning experience introducing them to diversity and academic discourse.
