More “Bad Ideas About Writing”

Join fellow educators for a series of informal discussions centered around “major myths about writing instruction” as presented in the recently published open-access book “Bad Ideas About Writing.” The discussions for Spring 2018 will cover the following chapters and will take place on the following dates: “The Traditional Research Paper is Best” by Alexandria Lockett and “Excellent Academic Writing Must be Serious” by Michael Theune, on Monday, February 19, 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., McKinley’s Private Dining Room, or Thursday, February 22, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Campus Center 206; “Official American English is Best” by Steven Alvarez and “There is One Correct Way of Writing and Speaking” by Anjali Pattanayak, on Monday, April 16, 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., McKinley’s Private Dining Room, or Thursday, April 19, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Campus Center 206.
