Dr. Thomas DeFrantz, chair of African and African American Studies and professor of Dance and Theater Studies at Duke University, will be in residence at Allegheny on Thursday, October 25. Hosted by Black Studies, Dance & Movement Studies, and the IDEAS Center, he will visit classes and be available for conversation during lunch and dinner. His work on Black Performance Theory and African Diaspora Dance has been widely published, including the edited volume “Dancing Many Drums: Excavations in African American Dance” (2002). To reserve a place at the lunch with faculty or dinner with students, please contact the DMS office at danceall@allegheny.edu or (814) 332-2813. Both meals will occur in the Gillespie Study so space is limited.
