Please consider participating in the Summer 2019 Allegheny Listens Employee Reading Group. The reading group will be held on Thursdays, 2 to 3:30 p.m. starting Thursday, July 18, through Thursday, August 15, location TBD. You are welcome to participate in the reading group even if you are unable to attend all sessions! Allegheny Listens Common Reading Experience is designed to introduce new students to our diverse learning environment and academic life at Allegheny prior to the start of classes. All new and transfer students, along with current students, faculty, and staff, read a book that has been thoughtfully reviewed and selected by faculty, staff, and students.

Employee reading groups based on the upcoming academic year’s book are held to 1) ensure that community members other than first-year students/transfers are engaged with the common read and 2) create a reading guide for the common read used mostly by students. The 2019-2020 book is Tales of Two Americas: Stories of Inequality in a Divided Nation.

Participation is completely voluntary. Please complete this form to sign-up for the reading group. You will be contacted by July 12 to confirm your participation. Contact Kristin Dukes, Ph.D., Dean for Institutional Diversity via email at kdukes@allegheny.edu, if you have any questions or concerns. A very special thanks to Aimee Reash, director of Public Services, Library and Information Technology Services, for suggesting we hold a summer reading group on the common read!
