Auditions for Lynn Nottage’s “Sweat” will be held Monday, November 18, and Tuesday, November 19, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in 107 Vukovich Center for Communication Arts. In a Pennsylvania manufacturing town beset by the loss of jobs, economic strife, and simmering racial tensions, friendships are pushed to the breaking point, dreams of economic prosperity are upended, and the seeds of a Blue State flipping Red are sown in this searing, bold, and impassioned work. There is nothing to prepare in advance. Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. Auditioners are highly encouraged to read the play. Copies are on reserve at Pelletier Library. Ask for Playshop Theatre, “Sweat.” Callbacks, by invitation only, will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, November 20. “Sweat” will be presented March 26-29, 2020.
