Small Teaching Online by Flower Darby “explores the unique challenges of online instruction and shares the small teaching strategies that have proven to have a powerful effect on online classroom engagement and learning.” Through the support of the Director of Faculty Development Catharina Coenen, Aimee Knupsky will facilitate a series of weekly meetings for faculty and staff interested in discussing the ideas of the book with a specific focus on translating them to our Allegheny context. The preliminary plan is to hold discussions via Zoom on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon starting on Monday, June 22, and running through Monday, July 13. The reading schedule would be as follows: Chapters 1-3; Chapters 4-5; Chapters 6-7; and Chapters 8-the conclusion. Once convened, the group can discuss whether changes to this plan should be made to allow for flexibility and accessibility. Please sign up by Wednesday, June 17, using this Google Form to express interest in joining the reading group.
