The Allegheny Gateway International Education Office invites you to join a free webinar on Friday, June 26, at 9 a.m. ET with Dr. Paul Duprex from the Center for Vaccine Research (CVR) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine exploring the role that vaccines play in preventing widespread illnesses and the importance of making vaccinations accessible to all. Specializing in measles and mumps viruses, Duprex also studies barriers that stop viruses jumping from animals to humans and currently leading the development of the University’s own COVID-19 vaccine, PittCoVac.

As we have seen how COVID-19 is affecting minority groups at a disproportionately higher rate, it is likely that the same factors that contribute to high disease prevalence will also contribute to low vaccination availability, whether it be location, medical access, socioeconomic conditions, or other factors. Dr. Duprex will talk about how science can achieve equity while ensuring a vaccine is available to all who need it to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other global diseases.
