Online Tutoring and Homework Help for Allegheny Families for Fall 2020

As we all anticipate potential disruptions due to COVID-19, Education Studies is once again organizing “virtual” student tutors to work with the children of Allegheny faculty and staff. Even while local school districts have announced their plans to be open this fall, we recognize that all plans are subject to change under these circumstances. To provide ongoing support to our working parents and their children, Allegheny tutors will work with children over Google Meet to help them complete homework assignments from their regular school teachers. Tutors can also provide fun, enriching, and creative activities to help keep enthusiasm for learning alive. The program is offered free of charge, with our Allegheny students earning academic credit through EDUC 543: Internship Seminar, taught by Professor Jennifer Foreman. We expect to match children one-on-one with an Allegheny tutor; however, depending on how many Allegheny families request tutors, children may be grouped with others in the same age group. Although we expect that most children will be elementary or middle-school age, if there is enough interest, we may also be able to offer a Preschool program (parents may wish to be present for these sessions). Sessions will begin as soon as possible after August 31. To enroll your child(ren) in the program, please complete this form. Please direct any questions to Susan Slote (sslote@allegheny.edu)
