Apply Now for the Critical Language Scholarship Program

Sponsored by the U.S. State Department, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

*Eight-week summer program allows students from a wide range of different majors to participate.
*Scholars receive academic credit for their coursework, contributing to their academic goals
*Scholars make significant gains in their language skills–covering approximately an academic year of curricular content.
*Tuition, travel costs, and a modest stipend are provided for scholars, allowing them to focus on learning.
*The CLS Program is for everyone–students from diverse backgrounds, disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.

The application for the summer 2021 CLS Program is available now for students who want to spend next summer learning a critical language. The deadline to apply is November 17, 2020.
