LITS has recently received reports of a new phishing attempt. Allegheny community members may receive emails with a subject line like “Your product(s) has been temporarily locked.” These email messages threaten you with the loss of your Allegheny College email account and direct you to a non-Allegheny College page. The sender claims to be from the “Help Desk” at Allegheny College, but uses an email address from a private company–not from LITS wishes to remind our community that the correct URL of the Allegheny College Password Change Form is This is the only page LITS would direct you to use to change or update your password. If an email message directs you to any non-Allegheny site to reset your password, you should treat is as a phishing attempt and report it to Google. If you are ever in doubt whether a password reset reminder email might be suspicious, please reach out to us at or call the InfoDesk at 814-332-3768.
