The Director of Faculty Development is seeking faculty and staff for participation in a book group during Module 2 of the spring 2022 semester. The group will be led by Rachel Weir and Julia Ludewig and will focus on “Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to Do Instead),” edited by Susan Blum, best known for her book “I Love Learning: I Hate School.” Ungrading assembles a wide array of practical alternatives to traditional grading methods, including contract grading and peer review, all designed to encourage deep, self-driven learning rather than focusing merely on grades. Meetings will take place on Tuesdays (March 1, 15, and 29; April 12 and 26; May 10) from 12:15pm to 1:15pm, with lunch provided, and all participants will receive a copy of the book.
