Education Studies is hosting guest speakers Melissa Goodwill, an Allegheny alum and Interpretive Naturalist at Asbury Woods in Erie, and Simon Camp, Forest School leader at The Learning Center in Meadville. Both speakers will lead an informal session at 4 p.m. April 19 in room 301/302 in the Campus Center. Goodwill has 13 years of experience in the Environmental Education field including work with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in Pennsylvania and the National Park Service in Alaska. Camp has a level 3 certification in Forest School Leadership and leads the Forest School at The Learning Center. Camp, originally from England, has various professional experiences that include working with primates and elephants on three different continents before finding his way into the classroom. The session will focus on professional opportunities in nature education and alternatives to traditional classroom teaching for students interested in education studies.
