Prof. Alfredo Hernández invites the Allegheny community to join Arizona State University’s Ventana screening of Negra, the story of five women of African descent from southern Mexico, during fall break on October 9, at 9:00 pm (see here for Zoom link). Directed by Medhin Tewolde, the film examines how the women’s resistance to racism, process of self-acceptance, and strategies for overcoming stereotypes in its celebration of their Afro-Mexican identity.
