In advance of the Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Day holiday (Monday, January 16, 2023), and a week of events celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King, the MLK Day Planning committee is requesting any individuals, offices, or groups who may have extra T-shirts — any size, gently worn or unused, and even outdated Gator gear sitting in a box — to drop it off at the IDEAS Center or at your head RA’s drop-off location (if applicable for students). Shirts will eventually be repurposed during MLK Day through a drop-in service project to make reusable T-shirt bags (stay tuned for more details!) These washable, reusable T-shirt bags are in line with Allegheny’s institutional sustainability goals and will be a resource for campus and community partners, including local food pantries, where there are opportunities to reduce single use plastics.
