Junior/Senior ONLY Room Selection Options

Residence Life will be implementing a new Room Selection requirement for 2016/2017. Junior and Seniors will only be permitted to pull in other Juniors and Senior through the room selection process. If after room selection there are options still available in upper class housing we will open them up to Sophomores who may have been placed on a waiting list.

Building Changes/Updates

Caflisch Hall:

Upper Class students have been requesting more options for single rooms but also have shared a desire to live with friends. With this in mind, the Quads in Caflisch Hall will now be Doubles. Students can share a common space with two single rooms. We will also be adding gender neutral options for Caflisch.

Edwards Wellness:

We will be returning Edwards Hall to an all double occupancy First Year building. We will be keeping the Wellness theme. This serves two purposes: offering more wellness options for first year students while also continuing an effort to plan and implement programming and resources specifically for first year students through the first year living experience. The first floor will become an additional gender neutral option for first year students.

There will still be Wellness opportunities for upper class students as well. We will be designating Walker Hall with it’s intimate floor lounges and kitchenettes, single and double room options and location to dining to support upper class students who have a desire for this type of living. The Office of Residence Life has already contacted students currently living in Edwards. If there are additional spaces available we will be opening those up during the Room Selection process. These spaces will be labeled in the available spaces on our website as Room Selection processes.

Allegheny Hall/Gender Neutral Living:

Allegheny Hall will remain an intentional Gender Neutral living experience for students dedicated and involved in educating and supporting students around gender. The Office of Residence Life has contacted current members of this community regarding this option for 2016/2017 and will keep it as an application only community because of it’s unique purpose and mission.

With students requesting more Gender Neutral options we are also designating some areas around campus as Gender Neutral options for the general Room Selection population. This will include additional floors in Caflisch and will have both single and double room options. Edwards and Baldwin first floors will also be designated gender neutral spaces for first year students.

Ravine Hall:

Ravine Hall will remain an Arts themed building. We have reached out to the current occupants to offer these spaces again and will open it up during room draw for the general student population. The Arts experience focuses on music, fine art, crafts, poetry and more and the programming and events in the building will continue to reflect that.
