New IRB Forms and other IRB Reminders

This post has been archived. Information below may be out of date and/or relate to a past event.

The IRB has updated all of its forms, including the instructions for completing the IRB proposal form. In addition, IRB is now providing a template Informed Consent document for those seeking guidance on the components of Informed Consent; our goal in providing this template is to streamline the review process. All of these forms can be found at the IRB website.

Reminders:

  • All personnel on an IRB proposal must include a .pdf of their current CITI Social & Behavioral Research (SBR) certificate.
  • All proposals must be submitted to the IRB by a faculty or staff member, who is responsible for reviewing the proposal before submission.
  • Send proposals to IRB@allegheny.edu so that they come to both IRB co-chairs.
  • Data collection cannot begin until approval is received from the IRB.
  • Approved protocols are valid for 1 full year for expedited or full review projects. If the project is ongoing past that date, then the PI needs to submit a renewal for the project. Exempt projects only need continuing review when there is a change to the protocol (e.g., new questionnaire or recruitment method) and/or change to the personnel (e.g., new students working on the project).
