As we approach the end of the semester, we wanted to share winter break information, move-out plans for December, and move-in dates for January.
See below for more details on these action items:
- If you need to, sign up for winter break housing by November 30.
- If you are leaving for winter break, move out of your room, apartment, or house by 12:00 noon on December 21.
- If you need to, sign up for a winter break shuttle to leave campus in December or to return in January.
- If you are leaving for winter break, sign up for a move-in slot for January by January 6, 2023.
Winter Break Housing — Students requiring housing between December 16, 2022 and January 12, 2023 must complete the 2022-2023 Winter Break Housing Form by November 30, 2022. Eligibility, criteria, and cost of housing during winter break can be found on the 2022-2023 Winter Break Housing Form. Students may be asked to move to a different location for the winter break depending on the number and location of students.
December Move-Out — Students must vacate their rooms, apartments, and houses by 12:00 noon on December 21; access will be removed at this time. If you are staying in the same room in the Spring Semester, you may leave items in your room over the break. For students changing room assignments, graduating, or studying abroad in the spring, you must take all your belongings out of your room when leaving campus after finals. Staff will be entering every space to complete closing checkouts on this day to ensure all have vacated college residences and document any health or safety concerns. Please note: Motorists are encouraged to “Know Before You Go” by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com.
Shuttle Transportation — Shuttles to the Pittsburgh Airport and Pittsburgh Megabus will be available for students’ departure from campus at a cost of $25. Shuttle reservations can be made here. The deadline to sign up for a shuttle is December 9, 2022.
- Saturday, December 17: depart Allegheny at 8:00 a.m.
- Tuesday, December 20: depart Allegheny at 8:00 a.m.
- Wednesday, December 21: depart Allegheny at 7:00 a.m., to airport then Megabus
- Wednesday, December 21: depart Allegheny at 12:00 noon
January Move-In Dates:
- Thursday, January 12, 2023: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Friday, January 13, 2023: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Students must sign up for a move-in time slot in Self-Service. Under Assignments, click on Spring 2023 and select a move-in time slot for January. Information about any COVID testing protocols will be sent separately. Please sign up for a move-in slot by January 6, 2023.

- Friday, January 13: pick up at PIT airport at 7:30 p.m., then Megabus
If you need additional funding to support remaining on campus over winter break, please submit a Gator Success Grant request. Funding is not guaranteed.
