Faculty Resources
Welcome to Allegheny’s Faculty Resources website. It consists largely of reconfigured information already tucked away in various, sometimes obscure places on the old website. Our first goal in creating this new site was to make information (facts, forms, contacts, etc.) much more accessible and logically organized than it used to be.
You will also notice a few new features
- a full directory listing of all current faculty, with their contact information, under the “All Faculty” tab
- under the “Opportunities” tab, a page, updated periodically, that lists time-sensitive opportunities for pedagogical or curricular development. These are typically non-discipline-specific conferences and workshops, such as those hosted by AAC&U and GLCA. The Dean’s office often underwrites faculty attendance at such events (separate from faculty travel allowance), with the understanding that when the faculty member returns to such venues a second time, he or she will present their own work.
- a New Faculty tab where one can find most of the information that would be useful to . . . new faculty
- an Assessment tab (currently under construction) that includes a list of the surveys and assessments the college has undertaken recently, select data and core learning outcomes that might be useful for department or program self-studies, and links to other resources, included the Office of Institutional Research.
- an Associate Dean’s blogthat (for now at least) has two functions:
-
to alert faculty to new faculty development opportunities, upcoming events, or other relevant, time-sensitive information; and
- to act as a forum where questions and ideas about teaching, scholarship, and other dimensions of living and working at Allegheny can be discussed. The blog is accessible under the Dean’s Office tab but faculty can also receive a link to it through an email alert.
-
We hope these changes and additions are helpful. Let us know if they aren’t.
Thanks.
Ben Slote
