New Faculty Orientation 2026 – Full-time faculty
The August portion of the New Faculty Orientation for full-time faculty will take place from 8:00am to 4:00pm on August 10 and August 11 in CREATE. On these days, incoming full-time faculty will have the opportunity to: meet each other in person; learn about some of the formal expectations for Allegheny faculty; explore campus and learn about different offices and their staff; talk about teaching; and ask lots of questions! Please stay tuned for an email from the Director of Faculty Development in early August with additional details.
The orientation program will continue through the academic year with lunch meetings on selected Fridays. More details, including a list of dates, will be available in August.
New Faculty Orientation 2026 – Part-time faculty
Because we want to be respectful of your time, the New Faculty Orientation for part-time faculty will be asynchronous and on Canvas. The Director of Faculty Development, Lisa Whitenack, will add you to the course, which you can access with your Allegheny email login information.
Getting Started
- Log in to your Allegheny email and check it regularly.
- Sign up for all of the Allegheny email updates.
- Change your voicemail password and greeting.
- Get an Allegheny ID card from Kathy Conaway in Bentley 009.
- Get office and building keys from Public Safety in Murray Hall.
- Get a parking permit from Public Safety in Murray Hall. Employees can park in Gold lots (see parking map).
- Sign up for emergency alerts through ALERTAllegheny.
- Add a secondary email or phone number to your profile in Self Service (this will give you a quick way to reset your password if you forget it)
- Add a profile picture to your Allegheny email account.
- Add a profile picture to your Allegheny Canvas account.
- Subscribe to Registrar Office Google calendar.
- Subscribe to the Provost Office Important Dates Google calendar.
- Create an account on the NCFDD (National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity) site to take advantage of our institutional membership.
- Order Allegheny business cards.
- Order an Allegheny name tag
