Sign up for President Mullen’s short course — “Case Studies in Presidential Leadership”!!

Sign up for President Mullen’s short course — LS 191 S0, “Case Studies in Presidential Leadership”, a 1-credit short course starting on Sunday 7 April.

Add cards are available in the Office of the President, Tippie 205.

The course is a study of presidential leadership in times of crisis or social change. Students investigate the leadership qualities of four American Presidents — Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson.

The class meets six times: Sunday, April 7: 6:00 – 7:30 pm; and Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12: noon – 1:15 p.m. each day.

The format centers around discussion based upon selected readings. Students provide a final written reflection, examining how the qualities of leadership discussed inform their own personal approach to leadership.

This course must be taken credit/no credit and is open only to students graduating in May 2019.

Sign up for “The Art of Leadership,” Spring 2019 Module B Course

Sign up for LS 190 B1 “The Art of Leadership,” a 2-credit Module B course starting on Tuesday 5 March.

TuTH 9:30-10:45 am.  Add cards are available in the Office of The Registrar, Murray 128.

The course is an exploration of the complexities of leadership and an opportunity to discover one’s own individual leadership style. There is more that goes into fostering good leadership than what one often sees. In this class, students learn how to build and manage effective teams, how to motivate and supervise individuals, how to negotiate, and how to manage conflict. Students will also learn to identify toxic leadership and how to remove and prevent it. In this class, students will explore how to effectively use the leadership techniques they already possess, and cultivate new ones which they will use throughout their life. This will be taught as a seven-week course.

Taught by visiting faculty from the Edinboro ROTC cadre, this course is informed by their experience as leaders in the military but is not focused on military leadership. Instead, it seeks to take their experience and training and allow Allegheny students the opportunity to study and develop this important life skill.  At some point, you will be called upon to lead. This class can help you get ready!

Seniors: Check your Senior Project Registration!!

Please see here for directions on how to register for a “double” senior project. If a student is writing a combined comp, they need to make sure their registration is for “DOUBL HIST/MATH 600″ or “DOUBL CMPSC/COMM 610,” as the case may be. If a student is writing two separate comps, this does not apply; they will need to register as per the rules of their two majors.

If you are facing a situation where your major departments have different registration requirements for senior projects, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR ADVISORS BEFORE YOU REGISTER!! So, for example, one program requires a two semester comp and the other doesn’t; or one program requires a 2 credit 600 and the other a 4 credit 600. If you are uncertain, you can find that information in the Academic Bulletin for the year you first came to Allegheny.

Seniors: will you graduate?

Have you checked your Degree Audit? Do you see this under the “Program Summary” section?

Program Summary: (Pending (Anticipated Complete))

If you do not see this on your Degree Audit, please consult with your academic advisor BEFORE THE SPRING ADD DEADLINE, which is Monday, January 28 at 4:00 pm.

Seniors: Watch for more information about Commencement 2019 soon!!
