Allegheny College

Are you going to graduate in May 2019??

Seniors should ensure they are registered for the courses they need to graduate!!

Please review your Degree Audit, consult with your academic advisor(s), or contact the Office of the Registrar (registrar@allegheny.edu, 814-332-2357). You have until 4:00 pm on Monday 28 January 2019 to adjust your schedule.

All-College Change Period (Add/Drop) (December 2018)

On Monday 10 December, WebAdvisor will be temporarily closed while we make final adjustments to the Spring schedule. You will still be able to log on to see your schedule.

WebAdvisor will re-open on Tuesday 11 December.

Add cards will also be available on 11 December. Please use Add cards to register (if the instructor grants permission) for:

  • courses that are full
  • courses that have restrictions you do not meet (e.g., FR/SO only)
  • courses that require the instructor’s signature (in “Search for Sections” in WebAdvisor, these courses are designated “Yes” in the “Sign Req” column).

Students may register for up to 20 credits at this time. Starting in January, students will be able to register for an “overload” (21 credits or more). Overload forms will be available at the beginning of the Spring 2019 semester in January. Credit/No Credit cards will be available at the same time.

Please note that an Add card does not override a general registration hold (e.g., no advisor approval or a financial hold). If you are unable to register and you know that your advisor has approved you, you may have some sort of billing hold. You can review your balance through the TMS Student Account Center link on your WebAdvisor or by calling Financial Services at 332-2360.

You can continue to add unrestricted courses that have open seats online, and you can also drop any course online.

Please contact the Registrar’s Office (registrar@allegheny.edu, 814-332-2357) if you have questions about registering for Spring.

Transcript Freeze — December 18 through January 4

Effective December 18, transcript requests cannot be processed until fall semester grades are posted. This applies to ALL requests — from current students, pending graduates, and alumni.

If you have a deadline date before or near December 18, 2018, we recommend that you request your transcript(s) prior to December 18; otherwise it will be held until January 4, 2019. Students wishing to have fall semester grades should indicate “Hold for Current Semester Grades” when ordering. If you do not, you may need to order a second transcript. We anticipate that these transcripts will be processed and forwarded on January 4.

Seniors graduating in January 2019 should select “Hold for Current Semester Grades & Degree Posted” to make sure their degree is listed on the transcript. If you do not, you may need to order a second transcript. We anticipate that these transcripts will be processed and forwarded on January 18, 2019, after the faculty have voted to confer degrees.

Students who are facing academic suspension or dismissal will have their transcripts held until after the process concludes, on or around January 11.

Students who are not graduating seniors may continue to order transcripts as usual, but should be aware that delivery will be delayed during this period. Please plan ahead!!

Questions or concerns? Please contact the Office of the Registrar at 814-332-2357 or registrar@allegheny.edu.

Registrar’s Office CLOSED, 11/21-11/25

The Office of the Registrar will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Break, starting at noon on Wednesday 21 November. The office will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday 26 November. Transcripts and other queries received during that time will not be processed until after the break.

Spring 2019 Pre-registration Update (November 2018)

On Friday, November 30, WebAdvisor will close for registration (however, you will still be able to view your courses, transcripts, etc.).

On Monday, December 3, WebAdvisor will reopen for first-year students ONLY (registration class “FR”). FR students will be able to register during the week of December 3 according to the posted Registration Schedule. During this time, other students will be able to add Signature courses (i.e., courses that require instructor permission), but must wait until after the first-year students register to make any other changes to their schedules.

Please contact the Registrar’s Office (registrar@allegheny.edu, 814-332-2357) if you have questions about registering for Spring.

‘X’ Deadline for Fall 2018 is Friday 2 November

‘X’ Deadline: The last day to opt for a student-initiated withdrawal from a course (“X“) is Friday 2 November.

Forms for withdrawals are available in the Registrar’s Office in Murray Hall and require the signatures of the instructor and your academic advisor. The completed forms must be turned in to the Registrar’s Office by 4 p.m. on Friday 2 November. Please keep in mind that only one student-initiated withdrawal per student is permitted per semester. If you wish to take a leave of absence from the College (i.e., to withdraw from all classes this semester), please contact the Dean of Students Office.

If taking a student-initiated withdrawal will leave you with fewer than 12 credits for the semester, you are strongly encouraged to consult with Financial Aid and Financial Services before you submit the card.

Information Session: Special Requirements for CHEM 109, Spring 2019

Professor Statman will be holding an information session about CHEM 109, The Science (and Art) of Brewing, on Monday, November 5, at 5:00 pm, in Carr 120. He will describe the course and its expectations as well as provide the course syllabus. If you are interested in taking this course, you should attend this session. Bring a signature card and proof that you will be at least 21 years old before the end of the first week of classes in the Spring semester. The course is restricted to Juniors and Seniors.

Signature cards will be available from the Office of the Registrar in Murray Hall starting on Monday 5 November.

Please direct any questions to Professor Statman, dstatman@allegheny.edu.

Spring 2019 Distribution Course Listing

Please see this Google spreadsheet for a listing of Spring 2019 courses that fulfill distribution requirements for students who entered Allegheny College in Fall 2016 or after. You will need to be logged in with an allegheny.edu address in order to be able to view this document.

Please note that not all of these courses are appropriate for all students, depending on their class year and whether or not they have the appropriate pre-reqs, and that some of these courses are restricted to signature only or have other restrictions.

This list is a snapshot in time, so please use WebAdvisor to check the real-time status of classes. WebAdvisor is the source of record for the Spring 2019 schedule. This document is provided for planning purposes only.

Please direct questions about Spring 2019 course planning to your academic advisor.

Spring 2019 Pre-registration Update (October 2018)

Pre-registration for the Spring 2019 semester begins on Monday, November 5.

Access is by registration class and letter code according to the posted registration schedule. Please check your profile in WebAdvisor to confirm your correct class and letter! The date and time in the schedule are the earliest that you may register.

Please make sure to consult with your academic advisor(s) before your scheduled registration time and receive permission to register – you will not be permitted to register for any classes without your advisor’s approval (double majors and students with co-advisors: both advisors must approve you to register). You should take a Degree Audit with you when you go to meet with your advisor(s).

The general registration order is: seniors, week of November 5; juniors, week of November 12; sophomores, week of November 26, and first-years, week of December 3. Within each class, the letter group order for Spring preregistration is: D C F E H G A B (please note that the order when you register for next Fall will be: B A D C F E H G).

Registration class is determined solely by credits earned and NOT by the number of semesters you have attended Allegheny. A student is considered to be a first-year student from the date of matriculation until the semester following completion of the 28th semester hour, when the student becomes a sophomore. A student becomes a junior in the semester following completion of the 60th semester hour, and a senior in the semester following completion of the 92nd semester hour.

Preregistration is limited to a maximum of 18 credits. You may add additional credits once the Spring semester begins. If you need a signature card, those will be available in Murray Hall starting on the morning of Monday 5 November.

Please contact the Registrar’s Office (registrar@allegheny.edu, 814-332-2357) if you have questions about registering for Spring.
