Ryan Cole ’10 – Summer 2008

Summer 2008 Davies Leader

“50s Block Party and Main Street Program”
Redevelopment Authority of the City of Meadville

The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Meadville is the lead agency in downtown and neighborhood revitalization in the City of Meadville. They capitalize on our natural environment to build a vibrant community with full employment, an expanding tax base and attractive cultural and recreational opportunities. While at this location, Ryan was part of the Main Street Program and was a large part of the organizational committee for a 50s Block Party fundraiser in downtown Meadville on Aug. 2nd, 2008. The event included a Johnnie’s Drive-In at the Meadville Market House. Much of Ryan’s project was about the Make It Meadville’s project, with goals to preserve promote and improve the historic character, arts, culture and educational opportunities and act as a catalyst for development in the community.

Ryan was very enthusiastic about his work for the Redevelopment Authority. He has gained a real knowledge of Meadville. He will continue as a Davies Leader in the 2008-2009 academic year.

Ryan is from Wattsburg, PA. He is going into his junior year at Allegheny College as an Environmental Science major and Psychology minor.
